The impact of COVID-19 has meant that a lot of couples have had no alternative but to radically change their wedding plans and opt for a smaller, more intimate celebration. Alternatively, if you are newly engaged then you may see the benefits of a smaller wedding and decide this is a better option for you anyway.
Some of our clients have decided to have a smaller wedding celebration this year whilst adhering to social distancing rules and whatever government guidelines are in place at the time, but then plan a larger reception next year when hopefully the global pandemic will be a distant memory. Choosing an intimate or micro wedding doesn’t mean that your day should be any less special however, and many of our clients have seen the advantages of a smaller occasion as they’re able to make each and every one of their guests feel truly valued. It also means you can be very selective about who you invite to celebrate with you, rather than feeling the pressure of inviting everyone that you know, therefore resulting in a deeply personal day.
We view an intimate wedding as 30 guests or less and a micro wedding as 20 guests of less. Planning a small intimate wedding or planning a micro wedding still comes with a certain amount of pressure, although you may not realise this until you’re in the throes of the planning process. At StephanieEscalante, we have extensive experience in planning weddings of all sizes and believe you should be free to enjoy the planning process from start to finish, however many guests will be attending. Each intimate celebration that we design, and plan will have the same considerations, beautiful styling, personal touches and attention to detail as a larger wedding but just on a smaller scale as we approach each one in the same way.
Planning a wedding is an exciting but overwhelming journey of emotions and you may feel that as the numbers are small then you are happy to plan the day in its entirety, but it’s worth remembering that there are still the same aspects involved and number of suppliers to source and manage as a larger wedding so without professional planning support, it can take a great deal of time, commitment, research and a launch into the unknown.
As restrictions start to lift, you may also decide to bring your wedding date forward, so this can present it’s own challenges in terms of knowing which venues and suppliers to select that will suit your style and budget.
